Some stuff just makes sense. Other stuff …. well …
Imagine a college student going to his or her professor and saying, “I really want to learn how to ________________ (whatever their applied field of study is) but I just don’t have the time to study, attend class, and learn all this stuff. I’m too busy. So I’m going to drop out and when I’ve learned some more, I’ll come back and get started again.“
Sounds silly, doesn’t it? But people do this in the home based business world every single day!
Anyone registering for a college education understands that the process is going to include registering for the classes … then ATTENDING the classes … then STUDYING the information.
This is going to go on for 2 years, 4 years, or more, depending on the degree program they are pursuing.
Then… AFTER the work of learning is done, the degree is awarded and THEN … the process of looking for the job happens.
That job is where the REAL learning is going to happen through applying all the theoretical and classroom stuff in the real world.
And only AFTER the degree program is completed and the job found would someone expect to begin earning any money. It just makes sense, really, and anyone going the college route understands this at some level.
But we see a lot of folks that get involved in a home based business and then they …
… refuse to get the training,
… refuse to watch the videos,
… refuse to attend classes,
… etc…
They just don’t do any of the actual WORK involved and then they quit.
If this happens in college, they say “I dropped out, because ….. ” For example, I dropped out of college after 8 whole weeks. I was offered a spot in a touring band and, at 18 years of age, that was my big goal anyway. So I dropped out and went on tour.
That’s my full story. I quit. I went on to do other things. Good decision or not, it was the decision I made. It wasn’t the college’s fault. I quit. There is no story about how the school failed, the Dean of Music didn’t like me, I didn’t get this spot or that spot in a band. I just dropped out and went on tour. Of course, I still had to pay back my student loan. That was the deal we made.
But in the home based business world, people say things like …
… “I tried that thing and it just didn’t work for me”
… “That stuff doesn’t work”.
… “My sponsor was worthless”.
… “That’s all a big scam”.
They quit then blame it on everyone except themselves.
“It doesn’t work” is one of my favorite lines. Guess what:
College doesn’t work. YOU do the work.
Home based business doesn’t work. YOU do the work.
“Joining” a home based business is like registering for a degree program. Unlike college, it is a LOT less expensive, takes less time, and you can begin earning right away. But if you don’t actually get the training and follow the steps, you won’t get the “degree” or any income.
Don’t blame the business opportunity, owner, industry, upline, etc…
Take responsibility.
Do the work.
If your goal is a college degree, then you know you are going to spend some money, some time, some energy, etc… and will have to complete the course before you can expect the job to even become a remote possibility. Quit before you have the degree and that job isn’t going to happen.
If your goal is to create financial freedom via a home based business, know that you are going to spend some money, some time, some energy, etc… and you can begin earning WHILE you are learning. Think of it as “on the job training”. And if you quit before you reach your goal, that financial freedom thing isn’t going to happen.
Either path is fine. Just know that you will need to actually stick to and complete the path, regardless of which one you choose.
